What Hell Have We Unleashed? Waka Flocka Flame and Good Charlotte Made a Song Full of Computer Noises

Flockaveli Madden is a good name. But this is not a good song.

The three dopest things in the world are probably Waka Flocka Flame, early 2000s pop-punk, and video games. But blend these things together, and you're going to end up with some kind of grotesque monster, not unlike the giant Pac-Man eating San Francisco and probably the world on the artwork for "Game On." The song—no doubt thought up with the same misplaced optimism that conceives of any Adam Sandler movie in 2015—will be featured on the upcoming soundtrack for the film Pixels.

The first time you listened to Flockaveli, when the adlibs of "Bustin' At Em'" came in, your first thought definitely wasn't "wow whatever this dude is yelling would definitely sound great if they were filtered like video game noises!" And you probably figured you'd left the sound of Good Charlotte blended with a dial-up modem in the past, with your three-day download of The Young and the Hopeless. But here we are.

There's nothing wrong with crazy combinations of rappers or anyone else making music specifically for movies—sometimes it can be dope as hell, like the Juicy J track from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles last year. But no one could love this. Can you imagine being a fly on the wall in the board room meetings behind the conception of Pixels and this song in particular? How many statistics on "what the kids are into" were shared? How many rounds of discussion happened before they settled on a short list of video games, Tyrion Lannister, the voice behind Olaf in Frozen, Good Charlotte, and Flocka? Who knows, but, once again, here we are. What hell have we unleashed?

Get ready to hear this song in every commercial this summer—and probably at the end of the movie. Game on!
