Year of No Light Soar and Crush With "Stella Rectrix"

From their forthcoming Tocsin LP

You know what's played out? The millions upon billions upon zillions of bands who all are trying to recreate the vibe, intensity and songwriting of post-metal greats Neurosis. Time and again bands shoot for the cathartic epic/brutal thing that made the Bay Area band so unique, and time and again we get served with a lukewarm version of a Mogwai record with a few crunchy parts. I'm bored with it all.

France's are the exception, crafting soaring reverb-heavy melodies that crash and crush, utilizing heavy guitars, keys and two drummers to great effect. Just like any great post-rock epic, YONL's tracks build and slowly swell, eventually reaching the point of explosion before falling back to the starting gate. YONL's latest is the Tocsin LP, available via Bandcamp and available for presale now via Debemur Morti. Stream two tracks from that release including "Stella Rectrix" which hits for the first time below.
