PREMIERE: Urban Cone - "Weekends"

Good times do not involve a modicum of cool, so just chill it with those Iceage records for a minute. Sometimes a little pop is all you need.

1. If the grey Monday vibes haven't made you long for a weekend of getting drunk in a park on toxic margeritas in styrofoam cups, this new song by Swedish troupe Urban Cone will defintely make you pine for the freedom of Friday-Sunday.

2. So this quintet are called Urban Cone? I dunno about you but it makes me think of those orange pylons that wasted college kids see in the street and then feel compelled to put on their heads. Hilarious. You've probably done that. I've definitely done that. It's a a bad band name, but let's move on…

3. The great thing about "Weekends" is it makes no bones about its super-pop hooks. These fuzzy synths, "Can you feel it?" refrains and the bright, light little guitar licks are all designed to make you revel in the good times and good times do not involve a modicum of cool. So just chill it with those Iceage records for a minute. Remember how excellent "Young Folks" sounded when you first heard it? Sometimes a little pop is all you need.

4. Look at these guys: All naked and hanging out! Are you going to the sauna? Wait for me!

Polaroid Memories—Urban Cone's second album—is out on 5.12 and guess what? You can pre-order the record! Holla!

Kim Taylor Bennett did this this weekend and she's on Twitter.
