Melted Toys' Video for "Always" Is a Trip

A burning apparition + a girl + some psych-pop. Cool.

Dear anyone sitting at the office looking for new daydream material: we’ve got just the thing for you. Lifted from Melted Toys’ newly released, self-titled debut album (out now via Underwater Peoples), the video for “Always” is lovely, gauzy, and colorfully psychedelic—the perfect complement to their blissed out psych-pop.

The LA-via-SF band credit their inspiration to the shifting visions of dreams and global travel, which clearly shines through in the mess of strange, humanoid figures which jog through this tangerine-hued dream. The entire landscape shimmies with the song’s driving beat, making both visual and audio thrum with life.

We still have no notion as to the meaning of the lyrics (answers on Twitter please), but the video was directed by Chilean Anibal Bley, who describes his visual interpretation of the song to be about “a burning apparition that stands out from the sight of a girl.” Cool, cool. Sounds like a pretty groovy mirage to us.
