If you didn't get your hands on Nintendo's NES Classic console last holiday season—and there's a good chance you didn't, judging from the laughable shortage—you'll soon have a chance to indulge other nostalgic gaming memories with the upcoming Super NES Classic mini-console. Nintendo just announced that the upcoming device will come with 21 built-in games from the popular console from 1990 and it'll be available on September 29 for $79.99.
Like the NES Classic, it's an adorable diminutive version of the real thing, complete with an HDMI cable connection that lets you play its games on television sets that were still the stuff of science fiction in the decade of Nirvana and AOL trial CDs.
It's also a bit of a bummer that it only contains 21 games compared to the 30 that came with the NES Classic, but they're all worth playing. As a big bonus, it even comes packed with Star Fox 2, the cancelled first sequel to the 1993 3D space exploration and combat adventure featuring wild animals piloting spacecraft. Here's a full list:
Contra III: The Alien Wars
Donkey Kong Country
Final Fantasy III
Kirby Super Star
Kirby's Dream Course
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Mega Man X
Secret of Mana
Star Fox 2
Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
Super Castlevania IV
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
Super Mario Kart
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
Super Mario World
If you're interested, take our word for it—order this sucker this second it becomes available. Because if the fiasco surrounding the NES Classic proved anything, it's that Nintendo will only produce a comparatively small amount and then announce that they're not making any more despite high demand.
