Trump Woke Up Early to Tweet Threats About US-Cuba Relations

It'd be wise to book a JetBlue flight and bring back some Cuban cigars and rum while you still can because President-elect Donald Trump is reportedly looking to cut Obama's newfound ties with the island nation—at least according to his 6 AM tweets.

Following the death of former Cuban president Fidel Castro, Trump took to Twitter to comment on the US's current relations with the country. "If Cuba is unwilling to make a better deal for the Cuban people, the Cuban/American people, and the US as a whole," he tweeted early Monday, "I will terminate deal."

Trump, of course, is referring to Obama's restoring diplomatic relations with the country in 2014. Since then, the president has worked to increase travel into the country, expand trade, and reopen embassies—all moves that most Americans have supported.

The president-elect's new chief of staff, Reince Priebus, however, has hinted that the policy would be voided if the Cuban government didn't meet some specific demands. Preibus toldFox News Sunday that the government would need to free political prisoners and expand religious and political freedom if the policies should stay in place.

"Repression, open markets, freedom of religion, political prisoners—these things need to change in order to have open and free relationships, and that's what President-elect Trump believes, and that's where he's going to head," Priebus said Sunday.
