Barry Sanders won't be the only Detroit Lion to retire at age 30, at the peak of his career—soon Calvin Johnson will join him, sources have told ESPN.

ESPN reporter Adam Schefter caught word that Johnson first told his family that 2015 would be his final season, then told Detroit head coach Jim Caldwell. Also in on the plan were quarterback Matthew Stafford and linebacker Stephen Tulloch, according to sources.

The wide receiver has spent nine years in the NFL, and this past season tallied 1,214 yards on 88 receptions, with nine touchdowns. Johnson—who skipped out on his a Pro Bowl selection this year—has suffered ankle injuries and overall body soreness in recent years, and appears to be worn down.

Earlier this month, Johnson released a joint statement with the Lions saying, "Like many players at this stage of their career, I am currently evaluating options for my future. I would expect to have a decision regarding this matter in the not-too-distant future."

Looks like now might be that time in the not-too-distant future.
