Watch a Robot Fly Like a Real Bird

Satyandra Gupta's robotic raven flies so realistically that it gets attacked by a real hawk.

As if birds weren't scary enough, Satyandra Gupta's University of Maryland research team has developed the "Robo-Raven," a UAV that can flap and glide through the air with such finesse that even other birds can't tell the difference—case in point, the hawk attacking it in the video above. Gupta's "Robo-Raven" actually has one up on natural avians with the ability to separately control each wing, which is why it can do crazy aerobiatic loops other birds can only be jealous of.
