Art Basel In Instagrams

Presenting a virtual tour of the mega-art fest.

This past week some of the biggest names in the art world descended upon sunny southern Florida for the annual Art Basel Miami celebration. During the show's four days over 50,000 international artists, curators, gallerists, and general enthusiasts flocked to city-- which also played host to the Nada and Scope art fairs (among others). While we'll be bringing you some of our favorite highlights from the international aesthetic spectacular throughout the week, we just wanted to take a moment to celebrate some of our favorite 'grams:

This year at Art Basel Miami…

…Creators Project friend and former interview subject Miya Ando displayed one of her stunning metallic kimonos.

…the weather was absolutely perfect.

…social media and the internet were big themes.

…it was a very colorful affair.

…but traditional and non-digital works were still plentiful.

…though innovation was definitely on display.

…Friends With You held the world's arty-est pool party.

…another Creators Project friend, Korakrit Arunanondchai, gave a splashy performance.

…while Ai Weiwei unleashed a torrent of crabs.

…and Leo Villarreal lit up the night.

Meanwhile Doug Aitken brought the flash…

…and the pool continued to be the place to be.

…but laser lights definitely were a big hit.

…so much so, that the queen of neon-signage herself, Tracey Emin, made a brief appearance.

…while Nick Cave wowed the crowd.

…and a whole bunch of artists created some sort of art car parade.

and last but not lease, we were introduced to @fartbasel, the Instagram account that adds fart bubbles to fine art pieces. We're not even going to attempt to make a "breathe of fresh air" joke.
