Multi-Sensory Bubbles Of The Future Release Scents When Popped

Pre-schoolers, prepare to have your minds blown with SensaBubble.

In what may appear like a major university making a play for the Sharper Image market, the University of Bristol's Department of Computer Science has developed a "chrono-sensory mid-air display system," aka a machine that produces scented bubbles which can have images projected on them.

The device, titled SensaBubble is a pre-schooler's dream innovation, but possibly something home owners will begin to embrace in the future. The bubbles can be filled with any scents (yes, the most adorable air freshening system) and can have icons, letters, and images projection-mapped on their short-lived surfaces.

Not only can these soapy pups be used as an ephemeral notification system (imagine a red bubble popping and releasing a whiff of cinnamon when it's time to switch laundry loads), but the creators claim it could be used in areas such as gaming, advertising, and education.

If this is how the University of Bristol wants to be spending their research dollars, so be it. As long as SensaBubble doesn't break apart like every other machine from SkyMall or Sharper Image, we're game to put one of these bad boys in our bathrooms—we know our cat will love it.
