Hey NYC, Rooftop Films Is Raffling Off Some Free Tickets

Looking for free movies, music, and booze in New York City? Rooftop Films is raffling off tickets to two of their upcoming events, where you get to watch movies on Brooklyn rooftops, have your ears reamed by live music, and soak up some free alcohol.

This Thursday on the roof of Trilok Fusion Center for the Arts in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, they're playing We Are the Best!, the newest film from Swedish auteur Lukas Moodysson. It's about badass 13-year-old punk chicks who write songs about gym classes and saving the children of Africa. The movie is already being hailed as one of the best of the year. Doors open at 8 PM. The all-girl teen rock band, PetalWar, who hail from the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls, will perform at 8:30 PM. And the movie screening starts at 9 PM.

Then, this Saturday at Industry City in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, Rooftop Films is also playing a program of short documentaries by New York filmmakers. These films celebrate all the weirdos of NYC, from the eccentric tycoons and hip-hop aficionados to the prophetic panhandlers and dominatrices. Doors open at 8 PM. Live music kicks off at 8:30 PM. And the film plays at 9 PM. After the movie, there's an after-party sponsored with free drinks.
