Read:'Dangerous Men' Is the Funniest and Worst Movie You'll See This YearThe Hollywood Reporter confirmed Wednesday that Noah Hawley—the guy behind that Fargo anthology series on FX—will be helming an adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut's 1963 novel Cat's Cradle for the channel.Cat's Cradle tells the story of, among many things, a Earth-freezing chemical weapon called ice-nine that ends up on an isolated island whose inhabitants practice a religion called Bokononism. Like a lot of Vonnegut's books, it's difficult to summarize succinctly and coherently, a quality that's made them tricky targets for screen adaptations. There's already a pretty mediocre Slaughterhouse-Five movie and a brain-bleedingly awful version ofBreakfast of Champions that should have wrecked Bruce Willis's career.Noah Hawley's Fargo is solid by most accounts, though, so maybe he'll be able to wrangle the book into a miniseries. Chances are it will be an entertaining mess at the very worst.A production timeline for the project has yet to be announced, but the Reporter says it will be released as a miniseries, just like Amazon's recent Philip K. Dick adaptation and that James Franco/Stephen King thing coming soon to Hulu.
