The Weeknd's newest project, My Dear Melancholy, arrived a couple weeks ago and has gotten praise for being the closest thing to the Toronto singer's earlier, darker work. The six-song EP, or album, hosts production from heavyweights like Skrillex, Mike Will Made-It, Gesaffelstein, and Daft Punk’s Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. The majority of songs detail Abel Tesfaye's experience with a rough breakup. "Call Out My Name," which opens My Dear Melancholy, describes those crushing events with the most convincing emotion. And today, the song became the first from the project to receive a music video.It's directed by Grant Singer, who's a regular contributor of Tesfaye's. In the clip, which doesn't quite match up with the song's message in any tangible way, The Weeknd sings his heart out on an abandoned block where bats fly out of his mouth. At another point, he takes the stage in an empty theater. He then ends up in what looks to be an African grassland where a creepy horned woman stares at the camera. It's something.
