Even voter suppression is bigger in Texas

Thousands of Democratic organizers and volunteers are scouting Texas this fall asking people to register to vote, but the process isn’t simple.

Since 2011, Texas has mandated that anyone who wants to register voters must become ‘deputized’ through a litany of requirements. The state’s Republican leadership says the rules prevent voter fraud and reduce error in voter registration but Democrats feel the restrictions are simply making it harder for Latinos and other underrepresented communities to register and vote.

Texas may not be a swing state this year, but they say it’s not about 2016 – it’s about 2020. VICE News travels to Houston to find out more.
