Deathwish Is Gearing Up for Their First Ever 'KING OF THE ROAD'

The team will face off against enjoi and Creature in the annual cross-country shitshow.

One of the most sacred events in skateboarding, the annual KING OF THE ROAD contest, is returning to VICELAND this Thursday. A cross-country road trip in which three top-tier skate teams compete in challenges on and off their boards, this year's combatants are Deathwish, enjoi, and Creature. The winner gets $50,000, the cover of Thrasher magazine, and maybe a couple broken bones and the chance to drink a friend's pee. On the first episode (embedded above), we meet the teams' pros, ams, and flow riders as they gear up in Albuquerque for the 13-day juggernaut.

Deathwish is known for going apeshit every time they take a road trip—the most drunk, stoned, and quick-to-fight team out there. But a number of the crew's top skaters have gone sober. The team's looking to Lizard King, a fearless pro and a nonstop ball of energy, to take the lead—and even though he's on the wagon, he'll be tackling KING OF THE ROAD's wildest stunts. Plus, he'll have Jake Hayes, Neen Williams, Jon Dickson, and Jamie Foy to back him up.

Check out online-only profiles of the Deathwish gang below, and tune in when KING OF THE ROAD airs on VICELAND June 8.
