Mass shootings have become a familiar and uniquely American phenomenon, which can lead to higher gun sales and can fuel efforts to loosen gun laws.

The shooting in Las Vegas Sunday, which was the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history, has again lead to renewed calls for stricter gun regulations and better enforcement of existing laws, including from some members of Congress.
