Well now Superintendent Ragsdale—Chris Ragsdale—from Cobb County, Georgia, will be etched in your mind as the overlord of puritanical schooling. Except, unlike Chalmers, he's not just a fun sponge. He's sponging constitutional rights.Several unnamed sources (who feared retaliation) told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that while Superintendent Ragsdale was in a leadership meeting at Kennesaw State University last month, he made comments about students planning to kneel during the national anthem, saying "their asses would be benched." Now, with that kind of potty-mouth, he's kinda sounding more like Assistant Principal Richard Vernon in The Breakfast Club, or Principal Ed Rooney in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. You get the idea.Superintendent Ragsdale's comments come on the heels of Colin Kaepernick's decision to kneel during the anthem at 49ers games, which has largely been recognized as an unpunishable act of protest by even the most uptight of institutions, the NFL. But to see a school try and mount a campaign against students who kneel in protest? Ruth Bader Ginsburg might have a say about that.
