Missing Former NRL Star Chad Robinson Found Dead In His Car

A social media push by several of the game’s biggest names, including Paul Gallen, couldn’t save him.

Chad Robinson's body was found yesterday inside his crushed Subaru Outback at the bottom of cliffs near his Kellyville home almost a month after he disappeared. He was the father of two teenage children. The former Parramatta Eels and Sydney Roosters star walked out of the family home on November 26th, barefoot in just a pair of shorts and a maroon t-shirt, leaving behind his wallet and phone.

A frantic search for the footballer ensued as various NRL stars took to social media and the streets to find him. Former teammate Mark Riddle searched rest stops near Lithgow and waterways in the Nepean area while Cronulla Sharks and Origin star, Paul Gallen took to Instagram along with several others with their #letsfindchad campaign.

His brother Tim, also a former NRL player, told the Daily Telegraph earlier there was no reason for his disappearance. "We keep saying it, but it's true — this is not anything we saw coming because it's completely out of character," he said.

Though it is reported Chad struggled with the transition from professional football back into the workforce, where he performed labouring duties before joining a car finance company. He was also said to have been rocked by the split from his wife.

As a player Chad represented the Roosters in their 2003 Grand Final loss to Penrith. That year he was declared the team's best forward by former Test and Origin star Craig Fitzgibbon. Robinson played a total of 159 games across nine seasons in the NRL and one season in the English Super League at Harlequins.
