United We Stand: Gaycation, the VICELAND series that follows Ellen Page and her guy pal Ian Daniel across the globe, is back. The latest episode premiered last night and finds the duo in DC in the aftermath of the U.S. presidential inauguration. One of the leaders featured on the show is Ruby Corado, a trans woman who started Casa Ruby, a safe space for LGBTQ people of color. Here's how you can get involved supporting them in addition to taking action on behalf of trans students nationally.

Loud and Proud: This past Saturday, tens of thousands of demonstrators descended on the nation's capital for the People's Climate March. The event was about more than just the environment and looked at the intersectionality between human rights issues and climate change. VICE Impact covered the event live and you can watch the video here.

#RiseUp: Today is International Workers Day with thousands of protests, actions and demonstrations planned around the world. In the U.S., larger crowds are expected due to the Trump administration's stance on immigration, and general lameness towards worker's rights. From reproductive rights to climate change, stand in solidarity on this important day of action.

Mess with Texas: Last Friday, the Texas House of Representatives passed a new bill that cracks down on sanctuary cities. The bill includes a number of provisions targeting immigrants including allowing local law enforcement officers to check immigration status during routine traffic stops. Another downstream consequence is the discrimination that both documented and undocumented Latinx people may encounter under this new legislation.

20 Years Ago in LGBTQ History: Talk show host and pioneer in LGBTQ visibility, Ellen Degeneres, celebrated the 20th anniversary of the episode when she came out to the world on her sitcom "Ellen" in 1997. Degeneres has continued to advocate on behalf of the LGBTQ community and former president Obama awarded a presidential medal of freedom for her acts of courage.

Arts in Action: The band Chvrches is using its platform to advocate for Planned Parenthood. The money raised from streaming, album downloads and merch purchases is being funneled into PP.
