How a Former Soldier Became a Chef in the Australian Outback

Matty Matheson takes a culinary tour of rural Australia and Meg Gill hangs out with a queer home-brew collective Thursday on VICELAND.

On a new episode of VICELAND's DEAD SET ON LIFE, Matty Matheson meets up with "Sniper" Steve Austin, a former soldier who took up cooking when he left the army. The chef brings Matty into the Australian Outback for a taste of the region's cuisine, convincing him to try out tree bark and termites for the first time.

DEAD SET ON LIFE airs Thursdays at 10:30 PM on VICELAND.

Plus, Meg Gill heads to Northern California to track down the best home-brews on offer in a new episode of BEERLAND. The DIY beer scene is mostly dominated by men—but Meg's found a home-brewing club that's 90 percent female and almost all queer.

BEERLAND airs Thursdays at 10 PM on VICELAND.
