Baltimore producer HI$TO borrows liberally from the club sounds of his native city, as well as its offshoots in Jersey, Philly and Paris. But the self-described "hood ass alien" mutates the staples of Baltimore club—breakbeats, chopped-up samples, bed squeaks, et al—into a neon-streaked trap/EDM territory. "Turn the Bass Up" is the first taste of his forthcoming debut EP Yung Spvce Cadet, which drops July 13 on the Baltimore/Brooklyn label Space Is The Place. Apparently, the track was made in a day, using the vocals from Baltimore club queen TT the Artist that Mighty Mark passed him. Not too shabby.
