Porter Robinson and Madeon's respective takes on EDM's over-Windexed sonics have always felt kindred. As each has tread away from the high-gloss styles that birthed them, they've each embraced organic, colorful, and bubbly sounds, uncovering a vibrant, biodiverse landscape in which they—and others in the post-EDM world—can explore total euphoria sans stigma. Today, the pair have made their underlying aesthetic connections by releasing a collaborative single called "Shelter" and announcing a fall co-headlining tour.

The track itself is built around the same sorts of tones that each have made their hallmarks—chattering, clipped vocal samples, thunderous kick drums, and blindingly bright synth lines—but it lands in a curious middle ground between Robinson's cosmos-probing instrumentals and the more earthbound romance that Madeon (born Hugo Pierre Leclercq) has embraced over the years. Verses slink around a muted guitar line before the chorus gets a chance to soar on the back of interstellar synths—but its the best of all, uh, Worlds probing the intimate and extraterrestrial in equal measure. It seems to suggest that there's joy to be found both here and in the hereafter.

You'll want to listen here in advance of the duo's tour, which according to tweets from Robinson will feature the artists collaborating together onstage, playing music from both of their back catalogs, as well as some new tunes.
