BØRNS' "Past Lives" is Like Jeff Buckley Singing CHVRCHES

Synth-pop at its finest and beautiful, beautiful hair.

A weekend full of late night warehouse techno got you down? Feelin' kinda meh after too much anonymous deep house? Let dapper Michigan native Garrett Borns AKA BØRNS whip your synapses back into working order with this live performance of "Past Lives," a sun-bleached synth-pop anthem that will have you transported to some summery place.

Recorded at YouTube studios in Los Angeles, the tune kicks off with a refrain that sounds like Jeff Buckley singing "99 Luftballoons." When the beat kicks in, it's all 80s synth-pop re-imagined with a slick, modern sensibility.

BØRNS' voice is something to behold, elastic and powdery and sweet. That alongside the classy musical flourishes and that boppy bassline elevate this tune way above your run-of-the-mill synth-pop number. Plus, that hair. Somewhere in an Irish dive bar, CHVRCHES are quivering into their apple juice.
