Creators Remix Roundup: Tinchy Stryder, Skrillex, Zola Jesus

Tinchy Stryder calls us out, Skrillex’s depraved new video, Zola Jesus does Rihanna.

Our Creators are a talented and prolific bunch, and our inbox is always overflowing with alerts of new remixes and mashups from the incredible DJs and producers in our line-up. We just couldn't keep these fresh new tunes to ourselves because, after all, filesharing is caring. Here are our top picks from the past week. For past Creators Remix Roundups, click here.

Tinchy Stryder ft. Yungen: “Bonjour”

The prince of grime rap has released a battle-cry of a single. With the blaring horns built into the beat, Tinchy Stryder and collaborator Yungen come barreling out with enough swagger to match Kanye (and according to Tinchy, ‘gettin that Lil Wayne mula’). The video is sparse—follow Tinchy down back alleys while he spits and adjusts his sunglasses for the camera. But when your chorus revolves around the lyrics “We don’t give a f**k,” I guess your video can be whatever you want it to be.

Skrillex ft. The Doors: “Breakin’ A Sweat”

Are you eating something? You should probably put it down before you watch the new video for Skrillex’s latest single “Breakin’ a Sweat.” Directed by dystopian music video masters Radical Friend (who previously made videos for Yeasayer and Black Moth Super Rainbow), the video follows a fearsome albino couple as they blow up electronic sharks, sloppily gnaw on robo-eggs, and battle with the woman’s demon fetus. If that doesn’t sound like enough of a feast of depravity, I don’t know how to impress you.

Zola Jesus: “Diamonds”(Rihanna Cover

At the request of many fans, Zola Jesus has released a cover version of Rihanna’s single “Diamonds” (minus the cloying sea-punk visuals of Rihanna’s SNL performance). It turns out fans know best as Zola’s electro-goth yodeling mixes with some electric keyboards sounding minimal until the chorus when a wall of re-dubbed Zola’s accost your ears. Following Bat For Lashes recent “We Found Love” cover, I’m getting pretty excited about this trend of dark-wave Rihanna covers. Compilation album, anyone?

CREATOR BONUS MIX

At the recent I Love Techno Festival in Ghent, creator Jamie xx jumped behind the decks for a half hour of golden jams from the nineties and classic techno. The festival was nice enough to throw it up on soundcloud for your listening pleasure.
