You know that thing the Jesus and Mary Chain sometimes do where they try to sound ultra-American? There are a few moments where Texas'

sound like that. Except they are American. So you get Americans trying to sound like Scottish lads, trying to sound like American rockers. It's trippy. It's like a painting within a painting or a poem within a poem or something. What they don't do is that frail, charming, comforting, depressed ballad JAMC thing, instead it's all trashy and garage-rock-y which is a whole other set of feedback and haircuts all together. They also give nods to other minimal drum kit thumpers like The Velvets and The Cramps (a band with a two piece kit minimizes the worst part about being in a rock band: lugging heavy objects, while maximizing the best part: bashing stuff). They've got two and half minute fuzzy pop songs, perfect guitar tones, southern grit, hypnosis, a slurred sneering drawl, and a cool name… they're basically a dog wearing sunglasses holding a sign in it's mouth that says "Deal with it."

VICE: I know you are doing a show with The Urinals, they're pretty good. Are there any other shows you are looking forward to?

Woven Bones: I don't really know The Urinals as much as people who love The Urinals. All the dates with The Fresh & Onlys I am looking forward to. And there is this new band called Milk Music that has one of the guys from Catatonic Youth, I looked one day and they don't really have much of an internet presence, but I'm excited to go to Olympia and play with them.

Have you ever played there before?

Yeah 10 years ago in my old band.

What band was that?

I don't want to talk about it.

Ok.

That was ten years ago. I was fresh out of high school. I am 30 as of tomorrow.
