Watch Trump Announce US Withdrawal from the Paris Climate Pact

The president was expected to make it official at the White House Rose Garden.

On Thursday, Donald Trump is expected to announce that he is pulling the US out of the Paris Climate Change pact, which 195 countries signed back in 2015 to combat global warming and lower carbon emissions.

It's not clear exactly how Trump plans to pull the country out of the agreement, but two sources with knowledge of the move told Axios on Wednesday that a small White House team was weighing whether or not to make a clean break from the accord, which could take three years, or just exit the UN climate change treaty it's built on.

According to Trump's talking points, obtained by Politico, Thursday's announcement will likely focus on the administration's goal to "to put American workers first." The move signals Trump's efforts to undo many of Obama's key policies, and sends a clear signal to the rest of the world about the administration's views on the potential global threat associated with climate change.
