Durban producer DJ Lag today shared a new track in which he remixes DJ Athie's "Asphakamanga," taking the original's vocal and placing it atop his own bumping instrumental. Listen to it below.

Along with artists such as the Rudeboyz crew and DJ Twitt, DJ Lag is considered to be at the forefront of the Gqom genre, a strain of club music native to Durban, South Africa, that is dark, bass-heavy, and frenetic. Back in November, he released his eponymous debut EP on London's Goon Club Allstars imprint, which included what THUMP described as the "disorienting and deadly" cut "Umlilo."

Stream "Asphakamanga" below and catch DJ Lag on New York's The Lot Radio from 4–6 PM EST, and at Knockdown Center in Queens tonight.
