Galcher Lustwerk and Alvin Aronson Come Together as Studio OST on Calming Groover "ITCZ"

Like previously released tune "Above The Waves," it finds the pair seemingly exploring a nautical theme.

White Material Records affiliates Galcher Lustwerk and Alvin Aronson have shared "ITCZ," a teasingly undulating techno track from their collaborative project Studio OST. Like the previously released tune from last week, "Above The Waves," the new beat finds the pair seemingly exploring a nautical theme—the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is the name of the equatorially-proximate area around the world where the northeast and southeast trade winds meet.

The main impetus to the track's nautical moniker seems to pertain to its underlying musical style, as a simple Wikipedia search describes the ITCZ as one known by sailors as "the doldrums" for the particular character of its winds, which are usually either calm or absent. The lack of propulsive push on Studio OST's work here isn't a bad thing, though—in fact, it lets things open up and breathe a bit more, letting the sub-bass tones hit with more patience while the groove take its time all the more rewardingly.

"ITCZ" will see release on the Scenes: 2012-2015 LP via Galcher's Lustwerk Music on April 4; preorder it here.
