Shaun Bloodworth, the Sheffield photographer who documented the underground electronic music scene, has died.

The news came earlier today (September 15) via Boiler Room head Raj Chaudhuri, who in an Instagram post wrote that Bloodworth's passing was due to "infections and frailty" while awaiting a liver transplant. Last month, Chaudhuri set up a fundraising page for his operation expenses. Presently, the campaign has raised £8,704 (approximately $ 11,526 USD) via 173 donors, with six days to go before its end.

Throughout his career, Bloodworth worked with groups including Rinse, FWD>>, and Bleep; and he has also taken iconic photos of artists including Flying Lotus, Skream, Jackmaster, and Benga.

A fundraising event scheduled for tonight at London club XOYO will still go on, according to Chaudhuri, who wrote that his family gave their permission as "it is what Shaun would have wanted." Benga, DJ Zinc, Loefah, Plastician, Rustie, and Untold are some of the many artists scheduled to play. Tickets are still on sale, and proceeds will now go to charity and to Bloodworth's family.

Read Chaudhuri's statement in full below:

"It is with an extremely sad heart that we have to announce that Shaun Bloodworth passed away today at 1:30 PM due to infections and frailty whilst awaiting his liver transplant. We have been notified by the family that they want to party to continue, as it is what Shaun would have wanted.

Tonight will be a celebration of his life and work—and he was truly so appreciative to see the support of so many artists and people coming together to help him in his last days. His work and documentation of the music scene that we inhabit has a huge legacy and tonight we will pay tribute to that.

The event will still go on. Doors open at 8 PM and we would still like to see you there to celebrate the life of Shaun Bloodworth. Tickets will be available on the door and donations are still welcome to help fundraise for charity and for Shaun's family in this difficult time."
