Friends and classmates of Adam Levine, the 21-year-old University of Miami student who died after attending the Ultra Music Festival this past weekend, paid tribute to an "outgoing person with an incredible sense of humor" this week.

Writing on Facebook, fellow University of Miami student Renée Pauline Perez said: "When I wrote this post a few minutes ago I couldn't believe that I was referring to you in the past tense. Even right now I'm in shock and I can't believe you're really gone. I'll never forget how you always tried to make everyone laugh, and I couldn't have been luckier to have you as my vice chair in Senate PR."

Levine's roommate and fraternity brother, Henry Kroll, spoke with THUMP via email, writing, "As a fraternity brother and roommate of Adam for two years, I can attest he truly was a unique individual. He was the most popular kid on campus and was a natural leader in our fraternity and the UM Student Government. The number of lives that he positively affected is astonishing and the hardest part of losing him is knowing how many people are affected by this loss. The outpouring of support and remembrance in the wake of his death has been comforting and overwhelming, but not at all surprising."

Kroll also shared an impassioned dedication to his Facebook page: "I can't express how thankful I am that I knew Adam Levine," he said. "I never truly had a bad day for the past two years because I knew that no matter what happened over the course of a day, at the end of it I got to come back to a roommate who was not only my best friend at UM, but truly understood and supported me in a way that no one else ever has."

Levine was a Political Science major at UM, and had plans to enroll in dental school after graduation. He was a member of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity and was involved in UM's student government.

On the college's student government Facebook page, there was an outpouring of support and remembrance for Levine. "Adam was a hardworking, passionate leader who always dedicated himself completely to every project he was involved with," it said underneath a picture of Levine smiling. "In addition to his leadership, we will always remember his warm, outgoing personality and his incredible ability to brighten anyone's day. Adam made everyone in SG feel like they were part of a big, loving family."

On top of all the respect being paid to Levine's memory, there is also a Adam Levine memorial shirt for sale, the proceeds from which will go to mounting a tree and plaque in Levine's memory at the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity house.

There will be a candlelight vigil on March 23 at 9PM on the SCC Lakeside Patio for Levine. Hillel will also host a Memorial Service during Shabbat services on Friday evening, March 25.
