Toronto Producer Kaade's Debut Single "All The Air" is a Synth-Pop Ode to Self-Worth

After recording in Toronto and Berlin last year, producer and performer Kat Duma has shared the first single from her new project Kaade, entitled "All The Air." Along with Talvi Faustmann and Kayla Devito, she's also started Security Co-op, a Toronto-based collective hoping to create a platform that both "normalizes, and welcomes, women in electronic music."

"There are divides between producer/performer, and pop vs. techno/house, especially when incorporating technical skill and image, that need to addressed," Duma told THUMP via email.

Engineered and produced by the artist, the track's analog textures grapple at an 80s revival, moving between drum breaks and scattered, synth-pop vocal work. Duma lyrically underpins its upbeat pulse with a bittersweet realization, acknowledging the futility of trying to change someone's mind.

"'All The Air' is about the realization that no matter how hard you try, you can never force someone to appreciate your worth," she said. "I want people to feel good and dance while dismissing those who have wasted their time. I think it's all very empowering."

Listen to the song below and look for Duma's debut EP later this spring.
