Club music innovator Giorgio Moroder, Numbers co-founder Jackmaster, and NYC legend Armand Van Helden will perform at a two-night party aiming to recreate the atmosphere of the golden age of disco in Brooklyn this weekend. Named after the iconic Donna Summers track produced by Moroder, "I Feel Love," it will take place in an abandoned factory, and attendees are encouraged to dress the part and use their phones as little as possible.
The event's hosts—Rob Stevenson of formative disco imprint Casablanca and Toby Benson of music management company Discord—explained in an interview with Forbes that they want to bring back the sense of spontaneity and intimacy that characterized clubbing experiences of yore. "What EDC can never be is 140,000 people a day and also intimate and that's where we specifically wanted to have a smaller-scale event so it can be far more intimate for those that come," they said.
To that effect, I Feel Love's ticketing website states that participants "should be comfortable standing, walking, climbing stairs, being touched, interacting with participants, or being alone," conveying that there might also be nudity.
Famed Studio 54 resident DJ Nicky Siano will also play, and he's made a special mix in advance of the party showcasing his style.
I Feel Love will take place at the Brooklyn Sanctuary, at 1260 Atlantic Avenue, and tickets are available on their website.
