Normally, I might have difficulty coming up with a strong selling point for a school art show— not in this case:

Iconoclastic institution, Bruce High Quality Foundation Univeristy, opens its doors tonight to honor the students, factulty, and alumni who made their Winter/Spring 2014 semester a resounding success. Entitled, BYOU: Build Your Own University, the show features over 50 works from the painters, performers, reformed pranksters, and sculptors associated with the all-inclusive education center.

To those in the know, BHQFU is a free art school run by anonymous art collective, Bruce High Quality Foundation. Founded in 2009, the past semester at the university featured classes that ranged from Nicole Wittenberg's Painting Critique, to Porochista Khakpour's Creative Writing Workshop in Prose.

Says school administrator and show organizer Joe Kay, "These people are us and we've been doing it for almost 5 years. We've learned that artists, when they're artists, learn better together. 50 weeks of the year we know what we're doing. The last 2 weeks of May are up to you and y'all. Build Your Own University is a difficult kind of magic."

Below, some of works in tonight's show:

BYOU: Build Your Own University is on view through May 31. Click here for more upcoming events from BHQFU.
