Arsenal Blow Doors Off Liverpool in First Half

Arsenal exploded for three goals in eight minutes against Liverpool and ended the game before the first half whistle.

Arsenal beat Liverpool 4-1 today at Emirates and the Gunners erupted into a goal-scoring party in the last eight minutes of the first half to take a commanding three goal lead. Alexis Sanchez (above) was the final blow right at the half, and it's doozy. That one touch in front of Kolo Toure set up the goal and Sanchez was able to loft the ball after a little bounce and bury it under the crossbar.

Hector Bellerin got the party started for Arsenal with a nasty goal he threaded between two Liverpool defenders. He started at the near corner of the penalty area, immediately cut inside, and let it rip for the far-side corner. Toure nearly got his knee on it, and Mignolet his hand, but we're talking about a goal, so they only nearly got to it.

Mesut Ozil added a wonderful curling free kick into the same far-side corner about three minutes later to make it 2-0. He probably got an assist from Simon Mignolet who was not only standing in the center of the goal, but leaned ever-so-slightly in the wrong direction once Ozil took his kick and never gave himself a chance to reach the ball.

Four minutes later, Sanchez blasted the doors off and put Liverpool away before the second half even started.
