Masahiro Tanaka Cannot Believe He Gave Up This Home Run

Masahiro Tanaka gave up a home run to Jose Altuve and could not believe it actually went out. His eyes nearly pop out of his head.

Masahiro Tanaka entered the fifth inning with a 6-3 lead and lost it all on a pair of home runs. Carlos Correa hit a two run shot to make it a cozy 6-5 game and then Jose Altuve blew Tanaka's mind (and lead) with a solo shot of his own. Altuve is not necessarily a power guy and did not get the greatest swing on this, which is probably why Tanaka did an extended double-take on the mound.

Initially, Tanaka thought Altuve simply flied out to left field, but then the true horror set in as the ball kept carrying and carrying. Look at his face! His eyes looked like they might fall out of his skull, and then he turned back to his catcher and the home plate umpire to make sure he actually saw what he just saw.

It's a short distance to left field in Minute Maid park—not unlike right field in Tanaka's own ballpark—so maybe he just didn't realize how much shorter it was. Whatever the case, he was not expecting that one to go out and had a priceless reaction.

The Yankees and Astros are still tied 6-6 after six innings, but Tanaka is out of the game and won't factor into the decision.
