Phobia Aim to Grind Your Face In with New Song "Damaged"

The grindcore veterans have just announced a new album, 'Lifeless God,' out June 2 via Willowtip

After five long years—during which quite a lot has happened here in the US of A—beloved grindcore miscreants Phobia have returned! They've kept busy with various splits and EPs, but we haven't had a proper full-length from them since 2012's  Remnants of Filth.Come June 2, 2017, though, they'll release a brand-new album via Willowtip Records, who are running preorders now.

Titled Lifeless God, the album features the return of drummer Danny Walker (Intronaut, Murder Construct), guitarist Leon Del Muerte (Impaled, Murder Construct) and original guitarist Bruce Reeves, who join longtime bassist Calum McKenzie and vocalist Shane McLachlan. Given the band's penchant for outspoken political lyrics, I can't wait to hear what they've got to say on this one (though the album cover may be a slight clue as to what the self-proclaimed nihilistic grindcore troupe have had on their minds).

As McLachlan explains,"This record is a true statement of living a self autonomous life. It's also always awesome to work with this veteran Phobia line up, nothing can be short from brutal."

Listen to new tune "Damaged" below. As one would hope, it's short, ugly, and brutish—in other words, classic Phobia, and an excellent taste of what's to come.

Also, I just want to take a moment and acknowledge how viscerally satisfying the cover art is, too.

Honestly, at this point, if your grind (or metal, or punk) band is prepping to release a new album and you don't have an image of Donald Trump (or at least a generic fascist) getting murdered on the cover, is there even a point?
