Steve Angello Exclusive! Check His New Track With Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman, “Payback”

The Size Records leader and former Mafioso will release a full-length album on Columbia Records later this year.

It has been over a year since Swedish House Mafia played their final show, but Steve Angello has hardly been on vacation. In addition to celebrating the tenth anniversary of his label, Size Records, last month, Angello has been in the studio, working on an album, due to release later this year on Columbia Records. In anticipation of the set, we're premiering his new track, "Payback," exclusively here on THUMP.

"Payback" is a collaboration between Angello and Swedish prog house duo (and Size artists) Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman, a pair Angello calls "very talented."

"They came through great on this record," he tells THUMP. "We felt from the beginning that this was a big one. It has that special heart coming through."

Big indeed. "Payback" has all the hallmarks of Angello's biggest hits - soaring melodic refrains and epic breakdowns - with a forward-looking musical edge too. While he promises the emotional throughline of the single will be found in the rest of the album, the as-yet-untitled LP won't be all in the same musical vein. "I think the album is a pretty versatile record with a lot of inspiration through the whole thing," he explains. "I've tried to capture everything that's moved me throughout the years." Another thing to expect on the Steve Angello solo record: more collaborations. "I love working with people," he admits. "It's not fun to spend too much time in the studio alone. It's like exploring an adventure with people, always a good time."

"Payback" is available April 22 through Columbia/Size. !function(a){var b="embedly-platform",c="script";if(!a.getElementById(b)){var d=a.createElement(c);d.id=b,d.src=("https:"===document.location.protocol?"https":"http")+"://cdn.embedly.com/widgets/platform.js";var e=document.getElementsByTagName(c)[0];e.parentNode.insertBefore(d,e)}}(document);
