Steve Bruce Loves Football With Unabashed Passion

The day Steve Bruce's love for football dies will be the end of the beautiful game as we know it.

When a player or manager leaves football, they are often said to have 'fallen out of love with the game'. Hull City manager Steve Bruce is clearly nowhere near that place. Despite the travails of managing a succession of lower-mid-table Premier League clubs from unglamorous locations, Brucie remains utterly captivated by football.

The proof? Witness his reaction to Wayne Rooney's wonder goal against West Ham. He spots it during a press conference and reacts like a child of 10 might at seeing the same strike, all glowing eyes and dopey grin. It's actually kind of beautiful.

"That's more important than me," Bruce says as he encourages the assembled journalists to watch the goal, before saying "wow" at least 20 times as he continues to stare at the screen.

Steve Bruce is 53 years old; he won every domestic honour going as a Manchester United player and has carved out a solid career in management. Yet he is still delighted by the simple joy of a great goal. Never change, Brucie; never change.
