John Kasich Voted for John McCain Instead of Trump or Clinton

Former GOP hopeful and failed prince John Kasich opted to write in John McCain's name on his Ohio absentee ballot instead of voting for either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump for president, Cleveland.com reports.

Kasich has been fighting a crusade against Trump since the primaries, but like those efforts, his vote for McCain won't do a whole lot of good, either. As Cleveland.com points out, the vote is symbolic since it is no longer 2008 and McCain isn't running for president. He's also not one of Ohio's certified write-in candidates, so the vote will be tossed out.

At the beginning of October, in the aftermath of Trump's "grab them by the pussy" scandal, Kasich released a statement making it clear that he could not and would not support Trump's presidency.

"The actions of the last day are disgusting," he wrote, "but that's not why I reached this decision, it has been an accumulation of his words and actions that many have been warning about. I will not vote for a nominee who has behaved in a manner that reflects so poorly on our country. Our country deserves better."

A new ABC News/Washington Post national poll has Trump leading the race by 1 percentage point.
