Yesterday, ABC canceled the Roseanne reboot after its star, Roseanne Barr, tweeted racist comments about former Obama administration aide Valerie Jarrett. Late last night, Barr said on Twitter that she was "Ambien tweeting" and her comments were a mistake.

Reuters reports that Roseanne tweeted: “It was 2 in the morning and I was Ambien tweeting-it was memorial day too-i went 2 far & do not want it defended-it was egregious Indefensible. I made a mistake I wish I hadn’t but…don’t defend it please.”

That tweet appears to have been deleted but Barr posted this reply:

Ambien or zolpidem is a central nervous system depressant that's used as a sleep aid and should only be used for short periods of time. The Mayo Clinic lists possible side effects as confusion, worsening of depression, hallucinations, suicidal thoughts, sleepwalking, and unusual excitement, nervousness, or irritability.

Doctors took to Twitter early this morning to address Barr's claim that Ambien was linked to her racist comments.

And just before 10 AM, Ambien maker Sanofi posted this on its official Twitter account:

Roseanne, please stop tweeting.
