Adele Threw a Cinema Screening for Children from Grenfell Tower

Music's Nicest Person™ strikes again.

As a London native, it seems that Adele was particularly affected by the events of the Grenfell Tower fire. She's one of many musicians who have worked in support of the Grenfell residents since the tragedy took place back in June, and despite the fact that press coverage of the aftermath has become more scarce as time has gone on, she has continued to support residents.

Adele has been raising money via her concerts, and speaking out on behalf of those affected – just after the fire, for example, she addressed the audience at one of her Wembley Arena shows, saying, "I'm raising money for the survivors and it's important they get money they get to control." She went on: "There's no plan for the aftermath so I'll look after that money until they know how they want to spend it. I've met the people who wrote the letters and were ignored. They're still being ignored."

But as well as raising funds, she's also been hands-on: soon after the blaze, she arrived at the scene to meet and comfort those affected, and she also visited the firefighters who had been working on the tower. And last week, she treated the children who lost their homes in the fire to a special cinema screening of Despicable Me 3, complete with real life minions (to me, terrifying, but probably cool if you're a kid).

A source told The Sun, "While she's working hard behind the scenes to raise cash, Adele wanted to treat residents to a night of fun and help take their minds off what happened and organised a private viewing of the brand new Despicable Me 3 movie." Lifesize minions aside, It comes as another kind gesture from the singer, and sets a super sweet example for the rest of the music world – so many of whom have been doing their bit to deal to raise both money awareness in the aftermath of the horrific fire in so many ways.
