A campaign group seeking justice for the victims of a tower block blaze in London have taken a lead from Hollywood, wheeling three accusatory billboards through the British capital to demand accountability for the disaster.

The huge truck-mounted banners, mimicking those in the Oscar-nominated movie “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” were driven through London by the campaign group Justice 4 Grenfell on Thursday afternoon, in a bid to keep the tragedy in the national consciousness.

The billboards read: “71 dead”, “And still no arrests?” and “How come?” The signs mirrored those used by Frances McDormand’s character in the movie, who has the billboards erected to demand answers over her daughter’s unsolved murder.

In a statement on the Justice 4 Grenfell website, the campaign group accused the authorities of failing to deliver take appropriate action over the June 14 blaze at the 24-storey tower block which killed 71 people and left hundreds homeless.

“Eight months on from the tragedy of the Grenfell Tower, the issue is being ignored,” it reads. “Still 297 flammable towers. And still hundreds of survivors are homeless. And still they are not represented on the inquiry. And still there is no justice.”

London’s Metropolitan Police are continuing to investigate the fire, but no arrests have been made. The probe is expected to continue until 2019. An official inquiry, chaired by a retired judge, is also being conducted into the disaster, which has sparked widespread concerns about fire safety in other tower blocks in the UK.
