Luka Modric Scores off a Screaming Volley from 30 Yards Out

Modric, with his pinpoint foot-eye coordination (probably somehow owed to his bra-strap headband), laced the ball out of the sky, sending it skipping into the net.

Sometimes with the Euros, you get caught up in the Spains, the Englands, the Frances, the Italys, the Germanys of it all (you Western-Centric, you). But what about the Ukraines, the Slovakias, the Turkeys, the Hungarys, the Albanias, the Romanias, and the Croatias? Oh, you definitely shouldn't count out the Croatias in particular. Why? Because they have a man by the name of Luka Modric, midfielder for Real Madrid, with a tight little headband to keep all that talent wrangled in.

In today's matchup between Turkey and Croatia, a Turkish defender made a high-arching clearance over his head that must've found its way up to nearly 30 yards in air, and rainbowed back down toward earth at around 30 yards out (a perfect parabola). Then Modric, with his pinpoint foot-eye coordination (probably somehow owed to his bra-strap headband), laced the ball out of the sky, sending it skipping into the net. An extremely difficult shot to execute. And a fair warning shot to all those fancy-named countries out there. Croatia is up 1-0 as of the 68th minute.
