Eli Manning Malfunctions, Throws Interception

Eli Manning's body seemed to betray him and he threw a terrible interception as a result.

Eli Manning threw an interception on a play where it looked like his body just stopped working mid-throw. Based on the context—the location of Rueben Randle, Eli's presumed intended receiver, Manning's location, and the surrounding defenders—that is the only explanation for how this throw came to be.

There's no way Manning intentionally threw the ball to that spot because there's no one there except 49ers linebacker Michael Wilhoite. This wasn't a defender jumping a route, because if Wilhoite hadn't been there, the ball would have just fallen to ground, well short of Randle. The ball likely slipped out as he was trying to throw to Randle, or reload to throw again. At least we hope.

As always, Eli provided a wonderful reaction to his Offensive Progress Goes Boink! moment.
