This Doctor Stuck an Endoscope Up His Nose And Sang a Song From 'Aladdin'

Henrik Widegren takes us on a tour of the whole new world that is his larynx.

When the vocal cords inside your neck vibrate, they produce a range of volumes and pitches, which together form the basis of speech. Thanks to Swedish doctor Henrik Widegren, you can see first hand how these cords work to create sound.

In this Swedish language video, Widegren's intent needs no translation as he inserts an endoscope into his own nostril and takes us on a guided tour of his larynx. After sounds of varying volume and pitch are created in the larynx, they are articulated through the pharynx, tongue and lips to create the sounds with which we use to communicate—or, in this case, sing.

Watch Widegren perform a few vocal scales, demonstrating an impressive gag-free range before ending the video with the Swedish lyrics to A Whole New World from Alan Menken's Grammy Award-winning soundtrack to Disney's Aladdin.
