This Reactive LED Basketball Court Will Teach You To Ball Like Kobe

Designed by Kobe himself, this court can track performance stats, adapt to players' needs, and show you what plays The Black Mamba might make.

From a plethora of World Cup inventions to projection-mapped opening ceremonies, this year in sporting has seen some serious tech-based transformations; most recently, The House of Mamba, a state-of-the-art basketball facility in Shanghai, has brought together the first ever full-sized LED court, replete with video graphics, live data visualizations, and motion tracking capacities, pitting players on the court inside a wholly immersive training experience. Designed to push players agility and strategic expertise as part of Kobe Bryant's extensive training tour throughout China, the court even housed the final competition rounds for his recently debuted Chinese documentary, RISE.

Visualized with colored X's, circles, and boundary zones, the court has the ability to guide players along moves and plays curated by Bryant himself. Trainess got to play ball with Bryant, and in their peripherals, a motion tracking device, live-catalogued their performance stats. Beyond just an aesthetically-enhanced experience, this allowed players a full immersion into the strategies and nuances of Kobe's legendary game.  Armed with this kind of technology, we're eyeing China as a contender for the 2016 Summer Olympic games. While we anxiously await a stateside version of The House of Mamba, check out footage of Bryant laying down some serious inspiration for youngsters on the court.
