Last night Sacramento Kings forward Zach Randolph was arrested for marijuana possession and intent to sell at a large party in Los Angeles, according to TMZ Sports. TMZ was then on hand this morning to capture footage of Randolph leaving jail on bail, and the man appeared to be smiling.

According to ESPN, police were on a routine patrol when they encountered a densely packed block party in the Nickerson Gardens project of Watts at 10 PM last night, where they found "a large crowd" smoking, playing music, and blocking the street. As officers approached the crowd, Randolph and two other people allegedly hiked up their pants and started running, prompting police to chase after them. Officers reported finding a large amount of marijuana on Randolph, and proceeded to arrest him and the two other people—one of whom received a charge of suspicion of carrying a firearm as an ex-convict.

That's when some sticky war on drugs logic factored in. The police tagged Randolph with not only possession but also intent to sell—which is a felony—seemingly based solely on the amount of weed he had on him at the time. In California, intent to sell can result in two to four years in jail and/or a $20,000 fine, according to Shouse California Law Group. Randolph's bail was exactly $20,000, according to TMZ.

After the arrests, LAPD had to call for backup as the crowd grew unruly. People proceeded to tear up six police cars, slashing tires and breaking windows on squad cars, and police swept the block in a line formation before they were able to break up the party.

Randolph, 36, who signed a two-year, $24 million deal with the Kings in July, was arrested in Los Angeles in 2009 for investigation of drunken driving. Randolph's reps have yet to comment on last night's arrest, according to TMZ.
