The KKK's Newspaper Wants Trump to Be President

In the latest edition of the 'Crusader,' the national director of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan penned a letter of support for the Republican nominee, praising his brand of nationalism.

Donald Trump has had a hard time securing any major newspaper endorsements, including those from traditionally Republican publications. But one paper has been more than happy to give the Republican nominee a whole front-page spread supporting his presidential bid—the KKK's official newspaper, the Crusader.

Under a headline touting Trump's now-famous slogan, "Make America Great Again," Pastor Thomas Robb, the national director of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, penned a letter in praise of the nominee.

"While Trump wants to make America great again, we have to ask ourselves, 'What made America great in the first place?'" Robb writes. "America was founded as a White Christian Republic. And as a White Christian Republic it became great."

Robb told the Washington Post that he did not consider the article an official endorsement, but rather a praise of the candidate's brand of nationalism.

"Overall, we do like his nationalist views and his words about shutting down the border to illegal aliens," Robb said. "It's not an endorsement because, like anybody, there's things you disagree with."

On Tuesday, the Trump campaign denounced the article in a statement, calling the Crusader "repulsive," but this is certainly not the first time Trump has received attention from white nationalist groups.
