Donald Trump has not had a great month. After his awful response to the tragic Orlando shooting and facing scrutiny about his tax returns, charitable donations, and private university, reports surfaced that his campaign is understaffed and plagued with infighting. On top of that, Trump fired his campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, Monday.

Now, the New York Times reports that the Trump campaign is essentially broke and nowhere near the fundraising machine it needs to be in order to win a general election in November.

Not only is Trump trailing Clinton in the latest polling numbers, but he only managed to raise $3.1 million last month, covering $2 million of costs out of his own pocket. Clinton, on the other hand, pulled in more than $28 million in the same month.

The Republican National Committee is also struggling when it comes to raising money to get behind its party's nominee. Earlier this week, the party reported only having raised about $13 million during May—only around a third of what it raised when Mitt Romney ran in 2012.

Still, Trump did somehow manage to pull off a huge win in the Republican primaries regardless of his small team, financial trouble, or the unending stream of heinous and statements spewing from his thin lips, so maybe the guy's going to be able to bounce back from what seems like a complete downward spiral.

According to his ousted campaign manager, the team is leaner and more efficient than ever. "If this was the business world, people would be commending Mr. Trump for the way he's run this campaign," Lewandowski told CNN following his firing.
