What Do You Do?

For the final Question of the Day of New York Fashion Week, we ask a simpler question: What do you do? What is your job that requires you to hang around Manhattan for a week watching people in wacky clothes walk down runways?

We've asked about your shoes and your sex life. We've been nosy about the eating habits of the heroin-chic gals strutting their stuff (or lack thereof) last week. We've also been creeps who wanted to know what sort of underwear was making your privates tingle, and we pulled an asshole move when we tried to pin down the world's worst fashion icon.

Now, for the final "Question of the Day" during New York Fashion Week, we ask a simpler question: What do you do? What is your job that requires you to hang around Manhattan for a week watching people in wacky clothes walk down runways? We stalked down a few people at the week's last shows and asked.

Hannah Elliott: I'm a journalist for Forbes magazine. I write about luxury.

So you write about pimped-out speedboats and $20,000 dinners?

Mostly like high-end cars, $100,000 watches, art—I'll cover the Christie's auctions or Sotheby's.

With Valentine's Day around the corner, what would you recommend to get for one guy and one girl that comes with a really high price tag?

Buy him a vintage Paddock watch that looks amazing with a tuxedo.

What's your most favorite thing about what you do?

I love meeting new people who get to do crazy stuff.

What's the worst thing about what you do?

I can't do everything. If I had my way, I just would never sleep and I'd go everywhere and talk with everyone. Because that's really the fun.

Kris Lloyd Enriquez, 28: I started out as a fashion stylist, but now I'm just a freelance fashion blogger. I mainly focus on runway and couture.

Which city has the best Fashion Week?

To be honest with you, for men's I like Milan, but overall for women's, New York is still one of my favorites.

What's your favorite thing about what you do?

My favorite thing is meeting the designers as well as becoming friends with them. Farah Angsana I would consider a close friend. Carlos Luna's a close friend.

Are any of those designers part of the official Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week lineup?

Yes. Actually, all of them are. Carmen Marc Valvo came back to Lincoln Center. Farrah has always been here for I don't know how many seasons.

What's the worst thing about what you do?

Traveling all over the city. Especially when it's slushy, snowy, and dirty outside. I'm actually based in Jersey.

Would you say your style is influenced by the state of New Jersey?

No, because I actually like to pull from different areas, and I have my own quirky little style. I like to do eclectic vintage-type looks but to make it my own, I like to make it classy.

Rabhy Ortega, 31: I'm in marketing for Kenneth Cole. Specifically for vision merchandising. That means taking care of the aesthetics of the stores and everything that's happening with the image of Kenneth Cole.

It looks like you killed a lot of dead animals and an angry wig monster. What's going on?

I'm wearing alligator, and then also a mink—and the alligator is eating the mink! I am a little crazy today. I can't explain it, I just feel like I want to be a little crazy, and so I just go for it.

What's the worst thing about what you do?

I wish I could dress at work the way I dress at nighttime.

Am I going to be able to get this glasses holder on your face available at a Kenneth Cole store any time?

No, I don't think so. Maybe in the future, I don't know. But this is just me playing and being a little wild.

J.P. Mcgillicuddy 24: I work in social-media.

What does that mean exactly? You just get paid to be on Twitter and Facebook all day?

I develop social-media strategies on different platforms, reaching from Facebook to Twitter to the latest thing. We try to develop a sort of storytelling. It's important for brands that they have good narratives, that they have a way to tell their story.

When you talk about social media like that, it sounds really boring. Do you actually like what you do?

Oh, I do. Totally, yeah. It may not sound fun because I'm more in the strategic part. But actually for me, it's quite a lot of fun. So I love to see what's coming out there, to see how Vine's developing and how people pick it up.

Again, all that sounds awesome, but also really boring at the same time. Do you work with boring brands?

Probably not, it's really more that I put a lot of thought into what I develop, and the creative part is something that comes afterwards. I tried to explain that to you.

OK, well, good luck doing whatever it is that you do.
